Prof. Xi Gao, and graduate students Jinajian Dai attended the 20th China Symposium on Analytical and Applied Pyrolysis (2023) at Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. prof. Gao made an invited presentation entitled "Multiscale investigation of a fluidized bed reactor for thermochemical conversion of biomass". Sijie Li presented a poster entitled "Synergistic Activity of Fe2O3/Al2O3 Catalyst for Hydrogen Production through Pyrolysis-Catalytic Decomposition of plastic".

Prof. Xi Gao, and graduate students Jinajian Dai and Bing Wang attended the 12th National Fluidization Conference at Karmay, Xinjiang Province. Jianjian Dai made an oral presentation entitled “Experiment and SuperDEM-CFD Simulation Study on Fluidization Behaviors of Binary mixture of spherical and cylindrical particles”. Bing Wang made an oral presentation entitled “Experiment investigation and multiscale simulation of hydrodynamics and biomass fast pyrolysis in fluidized bed”

Multiphase Process Science
Hosted by Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Chemistry and Fine Chemicals, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Materials and Technologies for Energy Conversion (MATEC) and College of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering of Shantou University, the Shantou Multiphase Process Science and Technology Innovation Symposium was held at GTIIT, aiming to promote the academic exchange and cooperation in the field of multiphase process and the interdisciplinary research.
The symposium invited experts and scholars from well-known universities at home and abroad (Louisiana State University, Iowa State University, Technion - Israel Institue of Technology, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, South China University of Technology, East China University of Technology, Dalian University of Technology, China Jiliang University, Xiangtan University, Jiangsu University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Yangzhou University) and research institutes (Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences). Scholars presented their research progress through various theme talks, focusing on topics of "Multiphase Process Science" and "Process Intensification and Technology Innovation".
In the roundtable forum, experts further discussed the common scientific problems and challenges in multiphase process science, as well as the opportunities and challenges of industrial transformation of chemical process intensification technology combined with their respective research experience, and discussed the future direction of the industry.As the organizers of the Symposium, Assoc. Prof. Bo Kong and Xi Gao from GTIIT Chemical Engineering Program, Assoc. Prof. Cheng Li from Mechanical Engineering Program and Dr. Zhengya Dong from Guangdong Provincial Laboratory of Chemistry and Fine Chemicals hoped to take this symposium as an opportunity, provide an opportunity for scholars to share their research progress and latest achievements, conducte in-depth discussions on the urgent problems in the field of multiphase process science, and build a platform for academic and wisdom exchange.
